Daisy House - Chief of the Cree Nation of Chisasibi

Daisy House is Chief of the Cree Nation of Chisasibi – the largest Cree community in Eeyou Istchee. Prior to being elected as Chief in the summer of 2020, she served as Deputy Chief for 13 years. Fluent in English, French and Cree, Chief House represents and advocates for Chisasibi at community, territorial, provincial and federal levels.
 
Prior to entering Indigenous politics, Chief House has worked as a Director of the local daycare, a Student Affairs Technician, a teacher, a Student Life Animator and an Academic Advisor. She has also served Chisasibi as Youth Chief.
 
Her passion for education led Chief House to actively maintain her own learning journey. 
She holds a degree in Early Childhood Education (Heritage College), a Family Life Certificate (Concordia University), a Bachelor of Education and Certificates in Aboriginal Literacy and Education for First Nations and Inuit (McGill University). In 2022, she received her Masters in Educational Leadership (McGill University).
 
In acknowledgement of her many accomplishments, Daisy has been the honored recipient of the Community Recognition Award and is a member of the Cree/Quebec Judicial Advisory Committee.
 
Chief House is a wife and a proud hockey mom of two sons.
